The label tells a bigger story than the logo
Most activewear is evaluated by how it looks in a mirror or performs during one hard session. Far less attention is paid to the material touching the skin, how it behaves after repeated wear, or whether the garment still makes sense once training ends. Polyester became the industry default because it is consistent, scalable and easy to engineer. Default, however, does not mean inevitable. GIAVA starts with a different question: what should performance clothing feel like when the fibre, construction and whole day are considered together?
1. Comfort is part of performance
Technical clothing often treats comfort as a soft benefit—useful, but secondary to stretch or speed. In practice, discomfort changes behaviour. A shirt that feels slick, abrasive, clingy or overly compressed becomes the piece you tolerate for an hour and remove immediately afterwards. Smooth cellulosic fibres such as Lyocell can create a gentler hand feel and fluid drape. That does not make every fabric automatically superior; it gives designers a better starting point for clothing intended to stay on the body longer.
2. Moisture management is more than drying fast
Fast drying is useful, but it describes only the final stage. The experience begins with what happens between skin and fabric while the body warms. Absorbent fibres can take up and distribute moisture through the material, helping the surface feel more balanced instead of leaving perspiration concentrated against the skin. Yarn, knit, garment weight and airflow still determine the result. The point is not a miracle claim—it is that fibre chemistry changes how moisture moves, and that deserves as much attention as a stopwatch.
3. Polyester should be a decision, not an invisible default
Polyester is durable, versatile and useful in many applications. It is also derived from fossil feedstocks, can release synthetic microfibres through wear and washing, and is difficult to recycle when blended with other fibres. None of that makes every polyester garment irresponsible. It means the material should earn its place. 4. Movement does not require a plastic second skin
Stretch became shorthand for performance, but clothing can move in several ways. Knitted structures can flex mechanically. A considered shoulder and sleeve can support rotation. Ease can let fabric travel across the body rather than gripping it. Compression and elastane remain valuable for specific products; they are not the only path to mobility. For a versatile T-shirt, freedom can come from proportion, drape and construction instead of constant tension against the skin.
5. The best performance piece should work after the session
The gym may occupy one hour. The commute, coffee, work and everything afterwards occupy the rest. Clothing designed only to signal sport creates unnecessary wardrobe categories. A matte surface, clean silhouette and restrained branding allow one piece to move through more settings. Versatility is not simply an aesthetic preference. When a garment works across more of the day, it has more opportunities to be worn—and must meet a higher standard of comfort, construction and relevance.
6. Repeat wear matters more than launch-day novelty
A product is not successful because it photographs well on release day. It succeeds when the wearer keeps choosing it. That depends on how it washes, whether it keeps its shape, how readily it refreshes and whether the design still feels appropriate months later. 7. A smaller wardrobe can demand better choices

It is a clearer relationship between purpose and product: know why a garment exists, what it is made from and when you will wear it. What this does—and does not—promise
Natural and regenerated fibres are not automatically perfect. They still require energy, land, chemistry, skilled manufacturing and responsible care. Construction can fail. Poorly chosen fabric can lose shape. Claims should be judged against evidence and the finished garment, not a romantic image of nature.
